Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked today (Sunday) welcomed the decision of the IDF and the Air Force to finally transfer the Independence Day plane over the city of Hebron.
“Residents of Hebron – raise your head, on Independence Day the plane will also pass over your homes! I welcome the important and obvious decision of the Air Force and I am sure that all residents of Israel will enjoy the beautiful and impressive plane,” she wrote.

“We congratulate the IDF on the decision to transfer the Air Force aircraft on Independence Day over Judea and Samaria. There is no symbol that we are also celebrating our independence in Judea and Samaria, along with the hundreds of thousands of settlers who will get to see the aircraft over their homes for the first time.”
Breaking the silence in response: “Fighter jets in the Hebron skies are just another way to demonstrate presence and constitute another stage in the de facto annexation of the West Bank. How sad that we are celebrating independence by flying over the population we have been denying independence for 55 years. ‘
The IDF is completing its preparations for the 74th Independence Day and the training and preparations for the Mets and flotilla under the sign “Yad Meets Yad Ahot” and is opening IDF bases to the general public, for the first time since the outbreak of the corona.

The flight will take place during Independence Day between the hours of 10: 30-13: 30 and will pass over dozens of major cities and points in the country, from Dan to Eilat.

The aircraft will take part in fighter jets, fighter helicopters, assault helicopters, refueling and transport aircraft and remotely manned aircraft (UAVs). Israeli police helicopters as an expression of cooperation between the security forces.
At 08:45 there will be a salute to the one hundred and twenty outstanding soldiers in the solemn ceremony above the President’s House.

The Air Force’s aerobatic team will perform eight spectacular aerial performances with the “Lark” aircraft between the hours of 09: 00-15: 00 over the following cities and bases:
• Jerusalem • Ezer Weizmann HaA base in Ramat David • Tiberias • Haifa beaches • Tel Aviv beaches • Tel Nof HaA base • Ashdod beaches • Air Force Museum at Hatzerim base.
On Independence Day, a special flotilla will be held in which the vessels of the Red Sea in the Red Sea arena and the naval police will sail along the shores of the city of Eilat. At the end of two years in which IDF bases were not opened to the general public due to the Corona epidemic, IDF bases reopened: Tel Tel Nof and the Air Force Museum in the premises.

For the convenience of Israeli citizens, the Mets app developed by members of the Ofek 324 unit of the Air Force will once again provide the best viewing experience for Mets by marking its routes and locating the planes in real time on a map. In the app, it will be possible to find a knowledge quiz as well as a virtual reality option that allows for a three-dimensional viewing experience on the corps’ aircraft models. It will be possible to download the Air Force app through the app stores or use the link through the Air Force website.
It is forbidden to fly skimmers and pilots in the Mets area – this poses a danger to the aircraft participating in the Mets and to the public watching it.
