Gulls Aim to Extend Winning streak in Rematch Against Ontario Reign
The San Diego Gulls seek to build on their recent success and secure a third consecutive victory as they face the Ontario Reign tonight at Toyota arena (6 p.m.PT). This marks the first contest of the rivalry series to be played on the Reign’s home ice, following a thrilling 6-4 win for San Diego on Thursday at Pechanga Arena.
The Gulls’ victory on Thursday was fueled by a standout performance from multiple skaters, with eight players contributing to the scoresheet. Judd Caulfield ignited the offense with a shorthanded goal – San Diego’s first of the season – and later added three assists, culminating in a career-high four-point night.
Nico Myatovic also found the back of the net twice, both goals coming while shorthanded, representing his second and third AHL career goals respectively. He also registered an assist, marking his first multi-point game of the season. Forward Nathan Gaucher made a significant impact, scoring his first goal as returning from injury, while Tim Washe tallied two goals and an assist, tying his career-high point total.Justin Bailey continued his notable form, scoring a breakaway goal to secure back-to-back game-winning goals.
Beyond the goal scorers, the Gulls benefited from strong contributions throughout the lineup. Ryan Carpenter earned an assist on Myatovic’s goal, bringing his season point total to five (2-3=5). Nikolas Fog added another assist, giving him four points in just two games, and Stian Solberg recorded his second assist and point of the season. Goaltender Ville husso was instrumental in the win, stopping a season-high 41 shots.
“I was telling the guys I think that’s probably the coolest part,” a Gulls player stated. “We get these guys back-to-back, a little home-and-home. They work hard, they’re a well-structured team, but so are we. So, we’re excited to make some adjustments, and I know they will to. We’re excited to see what happens.”
Following tonight’s game, the Gulls will return to Pechanga Arena San Diego to face the Bakersfield Condors on Friday, November 14th at 7 p.m. PT.
