Jakarta Mosque Repairs underway Following School Explosion, 96 Injured
Following an explosion at SMA Negeri 72 in Jakarta, authorities are focusing on recovery adn rebuilding, with the North Jakarta Metro Police leading efforts to repair and sanitize the school mosque. On Saturday, November 8, 2025, the North Jakarta Metro Police, in collaboration with the Kelapa Gading Police, initiated a complete cleaning and repair operation at the mosque located within the SMA Negeri 72 campus in North Jakarta. The operation was spearheaded by North Jakarta Metro Police Deputy Chief AKBP James H. Hutajulu, alongside dozens of officers and local residents.
“this activity is a real form of empathy and solidarity from the National Police towards the residents of SMA Negeri 72,” stated AKBP James on Sunday,November 9,2025. “We wont to ensure that after yesterday’s incident, all facilities can be clean, safe and comfortable to use again, especially places of worship.”
Damage Assessment and Repair Work
the initial phase of the restoration involved a thorough cleaning of the mosque’s ceiling and walls, followed by repainting. Officers diligently worked to replace damaged infrastructure, including ceramics, window glass, lamps, fans, wall clocks, and carpets. Notable attention was also given to structural repairs, with the main door being fixed and electrical wiring being completely re-arranged to enhance safety.
The spirit of mutual cooperation was central to the recovery process, according to james. “We invite all elements of society to help each other. This recovery is not only about buildings, but also about togetherness and caring for others,” he added.

The North Jakarta Metro Police emphasized its ongoing commitment to serving the community, extending beyond customary law enforcement duties to encompass humanitarian and social action. This dedication was evident in the warm and empathetic atmosphere surrounding the repair efforts.
