The Ministry of Environmental Protection has decided to fine the Zion Winery company from Ma’ale Adumim in the amount of NIS 779,000 for violating the conditions of the poison permit.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection imposed a financial sanction on the Zion Winery from Ma’ale Adumim in the amount of NIS 779,384 for violating the conditions of the Toxins Permit, which constitutes a violation of the provisions of the Hazardous Materials Law. The sanction was imposed by Yitzhak Ben-David, senior deputy director of supervision and enforcement at the Ministry of Environmental Protection.

During an inspection activity carried out by the Jerusalem District of the Ministry at the winery, in order to ensure compliance with the conditions of the Poisons Permit in its possession and the provisions of the Hazardous Substances Law by virtue of which the permit was issued, deficiencies were found in the winery’s violations.

The findings of the inspection tour revealed that the winery did not comply with the conditions of the toxins permit that deal with the treatment of sulfur dioxide, and the obligation to install a system for the treatment of emergency cases of sulfur dioxide. Also, the winery did not submit a separation distance survey.

In addition, according to the ministry, the winery did not meet the required standards in the conditions of the poison permit in terms of signage and warning against hazardous materials.

As stated, following the findings, defects and serious violations discovered in the winery, the ministry imposed a financial sanction on the winery in the amount of NIS 779,384.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection stated that it will continue with determined and uncompromising enforcement against those who have improved the provisions of the law and the conditions of the permits issued by it and will take all enforcement measures available to it to ensure compliance with the provisions of the law and permits.
