However, Santa Clara quickly extended their lead, building a 17-point advantage with a score of 38-21 at the 7-minute mark. Despite further efforts from Nevada, the Broncos closed the first half leading 48-34.
Second Half Surge Not Enough
Nevada’s defense continued to face challenges in the second half, particularly in protecting the paint. Santa Clara capitalized, repeatedly scoring near the basket and extending their lead to a game-high 22 points at the 13-minute mark. A late three-point jumper from Tyler Rolison brought the score to 82-71, but Nevada was unable to mount a significant comeback, ultimately losing 98-83.

Corey Camper Jr. led the Nevada offense with a career-high-tying 21 points, adding four rebounds and one assist. Tayshawn Comer followed closely with 19 points, three assists, and one rebound.
Despite the loss, Nevada demonstrated strength on the glass, recording 29 team rebounds, led by Chuck Bailey III with six.
Santa Clara’s offense was equally impressive, shooting 62% from the field (38-for-61) and 48% from behind the arc (12-for-25). Their defense was particularly impactful, registering 11 blocks and eight steals, which translated into 16 points off turnovers.
