A fire broke out this evening (Monday) at the Strauss-Elite candy factory in the Galilee landscape. Six firefighters from the Galilee Landscape Station managed to take control of the extinguished fire.
No one was trapped or injured in the fire.
Last Thursday, a tour of the factory by senior officials of the Ministry of Health took place, following which it was decided to suspend the quality standard of the factory for a period of three months. These days the factory is undergoing cleaning and disinfection following the discovery of salmonella bacteria that have led to an extensive recall of all the chocolate products, candies and chewing gum produced in the factory in recent months.
Strauss said: “A point incident in the training room, not in the factory grounds. The fire was extinguished. No casualties.”
