The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyhas criticized the Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, who stated on Sunday that Adolf Hitler “had Jewish blood”drawing a parallel with the president of Ukraine, in the middle of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“The Russian foreign minister said openly and without hesitation that the biggest anti-Semites were supposedly among the Jews themselves. And that Hitler supposedly had Jewish blood. How can this be said on the eve of the anniversary of the victory over Nazism?” He emphasized in his speech.
“These words mean that the top diplomat of Russia is blaming the Jewish people for Nazi crimes. There are no words”he added, assuring that, as there are no “objections or excuses from Moscow” and there is “silence”, it shows that Russia agrees with Lavrov’s statements.
In this sense, he has said that “after the death of people who survived the Nazi occupation and the concentration camps nazis by Russian bombing, such an anti-Semitic push by your minister means that Russia has forgotten all the lessons of World War II.”
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Dimitro Kuleba, also criticized Monday the “hateful statements” of his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov. “He could not continue to hide the deep anti-Semitism of the russian elites. His hateful statements are offensive to Zelensky, Ukraine, Israel and the Jewish people,” he said on his Twitter profile.
The words of the Ukrainian Foreign Minister have come after the Israeli Executive summoned the Russian ambassador to present a protest, while the holder of the portfolio, Yair Lapid, has charged harshly against his Russian counterpart for these statements.
On the other hand, Zelensky denounced this Monday night that 220 children have died and 1,570 educational centers have been destroyed by Russian bombing, since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began.
For its part, the Ukrainian Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office denounced that 219 children have died and 404 have been injured in attacks carried out by Russia since the beginning of his invasion of the country, on February 24, until this Sunday.
Likewise, the Ukrainian president, in his usual evening speech, highlighted that this Monday a 14-year-old teenager has died in Odessa and a 17-year-old girl has been injured by a bombing in the city.
Regarding retaliation against Moscow for the invasion, Zelensky has urged, as usual, the European Union to impose new sanctions against Russia. “We expect a new package from the European Union in the near future,” she said.
In his opinion, it is necessary to block “all export and import operations with Russia, because with that they earn money in Moscow and They don’t even understand that international law and peace in Europe must be respected”.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba had a telephone conversation on Sunday with the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Policy, Josep Borrellwho has asked that the next sanctions package against Russia include an oil embargo.
The President of Ukraine has also reported that the Mariupol evacuation operation will continue tomorrow and movement through humanitarian corridors is expected de Berdyansk, Tokmak, Vasylivka.
