Elizabeth SmartS Kidnapper Wanda Barzee Displays Disturbing Grin in New Mug Shot
A recently released mug shot of Wanda Barzee, the woman who aided in the kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart, has sparked outrage and concern due to her unsettlingly cheerful expression. The image, obtained by TMZ for Utah’s Sex Offender Registry, shows Barzee smiling broadly, seemingly unfazed by her past crimes and recent arrest.
Barzee, who appears to relish the attention, is “cheesing like it’s a freaking Christmas card,” according to reports. The photograph reveals a stark image: a wide grin displaying yellow-stained teeth, piercing eyes, and disheveled white hair, complete with visible moles on her face and neck.
This isn’t the first time Barzee has exhibited this behavior in official photographs. She is known for smiling in her mug shots, raising questions about her psychological state and apparent lack of remorse.
The latest arrest occurred in May in Salt Lake City, Utah, when Barzee was allegedly found near children in public parks – a direct violation of her registration as a sex offender. following the incident, Elizabeth Smart herself publicly condemned Barzee’s actions and expressed deep concern for the safety of others.
A post from the elizabeth Smart Foundation on Instagram highlighted the ongoing trauma caused by Barzee’s actions.

The kidnapping of Elizabeth Smart in 2002, when she was just 14 years old, captivated the nation.Barzee, along with Brian David Mitchell, abducted Smart from her bedroom, holding her captive for approximately nine months. During that time, Smart revealed to authorities that barzee stood by while mitchell repeatedly sexually assaulted her.
Barzee ultimately pled guilty to her role in the abduction and was released from Utah State Prison in September 2018 after serving a 15-year sentence. Mitchell, however, remains incarcerated, serving a life sentence in Arizona.
The disturbing image of Barzee’s smile serves as a chilling reminder of the enduring trauma inflicted upon Elizabeth Smart and the ongoing need for vigilance in protecting vulnerable individuals from registered sex offenders.
