Quantum has announced the acquisition of a new fleet of aircraft that will operate a direct route from Sydney and Melbourne, to London and even New York – on the longest non-stop flights in the world.
The company has purchased 12 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, and they will be operated on flights known as the “Sunrise Project” – with the first one expected to take place in 2025.
Quantes said the planes “will be able to fly directly from Australia to any other city in the world,” noting that they are 25 percent more fuel efficient than previous planes. They can carry 238 passengers, and include “welfare areas” for passengers so that they have room to move comfortably on flights, which will reach up to 20 consecutive hours on a Sydney-London flight.
The airline has been building this project for five years, but the Corona plague has delayed the launch. While Quantas has not yet released the price range, experts predict that such airlines will be expensive by at least $ 300.
