Princess Beatrix learns about the muscle disease Pompe in Rotterdam Erasmus MC

During the tour of the laboratory, Princess Beatrix saw a 3D muscle. It is a so-called ‘muscle-on-a-chip’ and looks like a living, human model muscle in miniature. That muscle is linked to a chip that can measure muscle strength at any time. This gives the researchers a better idea of ​​how a muscle disease progresses. A possible treatment on the 3D muscle is also being tested. At Erasmus these are the medication for Pompe disease.
