This practice came to a standstill when Donald Trump was president. Joe Biden addressed the audience at the White House. Then he says,

‘Islamists around the world are being targeted and subjected to violence. They are strengthening the United States every day despite the threats and challenges in the community in which they live. No one should be discriminated against and oppressed for their religious beliefs.

Speaking further he said that we remember those who could not celebrate this festival due to violence, conflicts, famine and disease.

He also appointed Rashad Hussain as the first Islamist to serve as an ambassador for international religious freedom.
