The Art of the Brick: LEGO® Masterpieces to transform Lille’s EuraTechnologies

The globally acclaimed exhibition, The Art of the Brick, is set to debut in Lille, France, on December 10, 2025, promising a captivating fusion of art and the iconic LEGO® brick. Produced by Exhibition Hub and Fever, the immersive experience has already enthralled audiences in major cities worldwide, including New York, Shanghai, and London.
More Than 90 LEGO® Creations on Display
In Lille, over 90 artworks composed of more than a million LEGO® bricks will be showcased, all crafted by the artist Nathan Sawaya, often dubbed the “Leonardo da Vinci” of LEGO® art. The exhibition will feature sculptures inspired by masterpieces such as Michelangelo’s David, Rodin’s The Thinker, Van Gogh’s Starry Night, Edvard Munch’s the scream, and Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, alongside Venus De Milo and numerous other iconic works.
Sawaya’s original creations will also be prominently displayed, including Yellow, The Swimmer, and a six-meter-long T-rex skeleton. A unique educational component, Organogenesis, developed in collaboration with photographer Andrei Duman, will present representations of human organs constructed from LEGO® bricks.
Meet the Artist: Nathan Sawaya
at the heart of this artistic adventure is Nathan Sawaya,an American artist who began playing with LEGO® bricks at a young age and never stopped. A former business lawyer in New York, Sawaya pioneered the introduction of LEGO® bricks into the art world. “I appreciate the clarity of this object, its right angles and its characteristic shapes. Depending on the distance and viewing angle, this offers new perspectives,” Sawaya explained.
Sawaya’s work, recognized with numerous distinctions, demonstrates meticulous attention to detail, transforming simple bricks into both aesthetically pleasing and creatively inspiring forms. He has lectured at Google, TEDx, and Yahoo, contributing a new dimension to contemporary art through a surprising blend of pop-art and surrealism. His creations, whether real or imagined, challenge perceptions as he manipulates matter, color, light, and viewpoint, often expressing processing, transition, emotion, or change.
A family-Kind Experience
The Art of the Brick aims to appeal to both children and adults, as Sawaya himself notes, “The exhibition appeals to the child in all of us, while illuminating refined and complex concepts.” An interactive space will allow visitors of all ages to unleash their creativity with thousands of LEGO® bricks, fostering playful construction and imaginative expression.
A pop-up store will also be available, offering exclusive LEGO® merchandise, including items from popular licenses such as Harry Potter, Jurassic World, Avatar, and Star Wars.
