Initial Reports of Hazardous Conditions
According to authorities, the primary cause of the disruption was “terribly smooth” road surfaces, leading to several trailers losing control. A senior official with the Trøndelag police district stated that reports began coming in of trailers slipping and experiencing significant difficulties.Immediate action was taken to dispatch resources for de-icing, with salt and sand being deployed to the affected area. Authorities initially indicated they did not anticipate a prolonged closure.
Road blockage and Emergency Response
By 2:30 a.m., the situation had escalated, with three trailers wholly blocking the E6 in both directions. To prevent further collisions, one trailer was deliberately maneuvered into a ditch. A tow truck was dispatched to begin the complex process of clearing the blockage.
