Legislative: what are the 70 constituencies negotiated by the PS with LFI?

by time news

Historic agreement for some, collective suicide for others… The Socialists signed their agreement with the Insoumis after days of discussion. The outcome was far from obvious, as the two camps were starting from afar, after years of resentment, differences and head-on opposition. The text signed by the two parties provides that the Socialists will be able to present their candidates in 70 constituencies. That’s 30 less than they had hoped for, but 40 more than the Rogue Ones initially offered them. Here is the list provided to Le Parisien by the leadership of the Socialist Party, on a map:

The signing of this agreement made more than one Socialist Party executive jump. Many of them made known this Wednesday evening their opposition to the leadership of the party at the Rose. Former Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve kept his promise by slamming the door of the party. Claude Bartolone believes that his story is over with the PS. Several mayors of big cities would be particularly annoyed by the result of the negotiations conducted.

The mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, thus sees her stronghold largely deserted by the socialists. They only have two potential constituencies left: the 2nd, which will undoubtedly be very complicated to delight, and the 11th, perhaps more accessible as the former historic territory of Pascal Cherki. The Insoumis succeeded in imposing the candidacy of Danielle Simonnet in the 15th constituency of the capital, while the Socialists demanded the candidacy of Lamia El Araje, an outgoing former Socialist deputy, who had beaten the rebellious councilor of Paris during a legislative partial in June 2021.

In the Southwest, the president of the Occitanie region Carole Delga is also one of the furious. This Wednesday were even presented three candidates who could enter into dissent in the region. The National Council promises to be electric on Thursday. Phones are likely to heat up, and many will no doubt want to vote. Whether it is to dub the union of the left… Or do everything to undermine it.
