A talented group of young dancers from Italy has returned home with accolades from the prestigious World of Dance Summit in Los Angeles, solidifying the nation’s rising prominence in the global street dance scene. The team’s success underscores the importance of regional investment in youth sports and artistic development.
On Thursday evening, Marco Scajola, the regional councilor for the European Social Fund, honored the Fresh’n Clean Junior crew and individual champion Viola Motosso at a ceremony recognizing their achievements at the competition, held from July 17 to 21, 2025.
World Championship Victory and Historic Placement
The celebration centered around two significant awards. Sixteen-year-old Viola Motosso was proclaimed World Champion of Battle All Styles Under 18, a remarkable individual accomplishment. Simultaneously, the entire Fresh’n Clean Junior crew – comprised of Blaise Sasso, Carlotta Guaita, Haron Nabawy, Irene Scalzo, and Motosso – secured an impressive 6th place in the choreographic competition.
This 6th-place finish marks a historic moment for Italian street dance, representing the best result ever achieved by a team from the country at the World of Dance Summit. The crew’s success is attributed to the dedicated coaching of Simone Stella.
Regional Support Fuels Youth Success
“These young people are a source of pride for Imperia and for the whole of Liguria,” a senior official stated. “With their talent and commitment they have achieved extraordinary results in a world competition. It is right to enhance their path and support the dreams of the young people who, with passion, bring our territory to the top.”
The Liguria Region has demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting youth development through initiatives funded by the European Social Fund. One such program, ‘DoteSport’, is specifically designed to encourage children’s participation in sporting activities. This investment highlights a broader strategy to foster talent and provide opportunities for young athletes and artists to excel on the international stage.
The success of the Fresh’n Clean Junior crew serves as a powerful example of the positive impact of these regional programs, demonstrating how strategic investment in youth can yield extraordinary results and elevate Italy’s profile in the world of competitive dance.
