According to reports, Cooper allegedly referred to London Mayor sadiq Khan as a “narcissistic Pakistani” and claimed migrants were “intent on colonizing the UK, destroying all that has gone before.”
Perhaps the most egregious allegation involves a post targeting British-Nigerian lawyer and women’s rights activist dr. Shola Mos-Shogbamimu. cooper allegedly wrote, “Dr Shaga Bing-Bong … Time she F’d off back to Nigeria. She’d feel more at home there.” He also reportedly attacked broadcaster Sangita Myska, stating she was English “onyl in your dreams” and questioning her cultural identity.
In another post, Cooper allegedly asserted that “no foreign national or first generation migrant should be allowed to sit in parliament.” He is also alleged to have dismissed the idea that diversity is a strength for Britain, claiming migrants from the “global majority south” are actively working to undermine British society.
Reform UK Launches Inquiry
Reform UK responded to the allegations on Wednesday, announcing the launch of an “urgent internal investigation” into Cooper’s “non-disclosure of social media accounts.” the party has yet to comment directly on the content of the posts themselves. Cooper,who previously ran as a Reform UK parliamentary candidate in both 2023 and last year’s general election,has not responded to requests for comment.He was elected as leader of Staffordshire County Council in May, following notable gains for Reform UK in local elections. He currently serves as the interim chair of the party’s Tamworth branch.
Political Fallout and Calls for Resignation
The allegations have sparked widespread condemnation, particularly from within the Labor Party. Nine Labour MPs from the region have publicly called for cooper to resign, denouncing the posts as “outright bigotry” and evidence of “far-right and racist opinions.” Sarah Edwards, the Labour MP for Tamworth, described the posts as displaying “deeply disturbing white supremacist views,” emphasizing that such ideologies have “no place in our society and certainly not in public office.”
The controversy comes as Reform UK seeks to position itself as a viable alternative to the mainstream political parties. The party has been gaining traction with voters disillusioned with both Conservative and Labour policies, but these allegations threaten to derail its progress.
Pattern of Offensive Behavior Within Reform UK
This incident is not isolated. Last month, two other Reform UK politicians were suspended over offensive messages. Laura Anne Jones, the sole Reform member of the Senedd, faced suspension for using a racial slur in a discussion about China and TikTok. In Lancashire, Councillor Tom Pickup was suspended for referring to Labour leader Keir Starmer with a highly offensive term and for alleged involvement in a WhatsApp group where members reportedly called for “mass Islam genocide.”
