uttar Pradesh is expanding its successful economic development model with the launch of “One District,One Cuisine” (ODOC),a new initiative designed to showcase the state’s rich and diverse culinary heritage and drive economic growth.
The ODOC initiative, announced Friday by Chief Minister Yogi adityanath, aims to establish a unified identity for each district based on its signature dish. This builds upon the momentum of the “One district, One Product” (ODOP) scheme, which has become a cornerstone of the “Brand UP” identity.
“uttar Pradesh’s food traditions – from the halwa of one region to the dalmoth of another – reflect the cultural soul of the state,” Adityanath stated during a high-level meeting. He emphasized the need to improve quality, hygiene, packaging, branding, and marketing of these local specialties to transform them into marketable brands.
The Chief Minister envisions ODOP and ODOC working in tandem to propel Uttar Pradesh “from local to global,” fostering both domestic tourism and international exports.
ODOP 2.0: Scaling Success and Embracing Modernization

Officials noted that evolving global market trends, changing consumer demands, and technological advancements necessitate a more extensive and outcome-driven framework.
As its launch in 2018, ODOP has become integral to the state’s export ecosystem. To date, over 1.25 lakh toolkits have been distributed, and loans exceeding Rs 6,000 crore have been sanctioned. More than 8,000 entrepreneurs have also received direct marketing support.
The scheme’s impact is further demonstrated by the approval of 30 Common Facility Centres (CFCs), the geo-tagging of 44 ODOP products, and the prominent placement of ODOP goods on major e-commerce platforms. These efforts contribute to over 50 percent of Uttar Pradesh’s total exports, and the initiative has received national awards for two consecutive years.
Strengthening Infrastructure and Market Access
Adityanath stressed the importance of scaling up successful units and entrepreneurs from the first phase of ODOP. He highlighted four key areas for advancement: technology, packaging, quality, and market access.
