The Israel Prize award ceremony for the year 2002 was held tonight (Thursday) at the Nation’s Buildings in Jerusalem, as the closing event of the 74th Independence Day of the State of Israel.

The event is attended by President Yitzhak Herzog, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Knesset Speaker Miki Levy, Education Minister Yifat Shasha Bitton, Supreme Court President Esther Hayut and Jerusalem Mayor Moshe Leon.

Watch live:

This year for the first time, the Ussishkin Hall in the Nation Buildings will become a gala hall, where the audience will sit around stage-high tables and be an integral part of what is happening. The entire ceremony will also be accompanied by a Big Band from Thelma Yellin High School that includes 20 musicians.

The ceremony will be moderated by Eliana Tidhar and Niv Raskin. The singers participating in the ceremony will perform a salute to Avihu Medina and a salute to the late Yoram Trahlev, who passed away this year.
