Chennai: A court in Saidapet, Chennai has ordered to register a case against actor Surya, actress Jyotika and director Gnanavell in connection with the Jaybeam movie controversy.
Gyanvel is the director of the movie Jaybeam starring actor Surya. The film ‘Agni Kalasam’ featured the Agni Kalasam, a symbol of the Vanni, and was widely accused of slandering the name of the late Guru, the leader of the Vanni Sangam. Various organizations, including the BJP, protested.
Subsequently, the Agni urn display was removed. In this situation, Rudra Vanniyar Sena leader Santosh Naigar lodged a complaint on December 8, 2021 at the Chennai Velachery Police Station. In it, ‘The film has scenes that are likely to disrupt unity and create caste and religious riots. ‘In addition, the Vanniyar community is in a position to offend and humiliate the people. It was said that ‘Thus, actor Surya, producer actress Jyotika, should take action against director Gnanavell’.
The petitioner filed the petition in the 18th Court of Saidapet as the police did not file a case. Yesterday, the trial took place. Judge Subramanian then ordered that a case be filed against actor Surya, actress Jyotika, director Gnanavell and others and that the details be filed in court on the 20th.
