Atlanta’s Winter Comedy Lineup: From Fortune feimster to Leslie Jones
Atlanta audiences have a packed schedule of laughs ahead, with a diverse array of comedic talent taking the stage throughout the winter months. From established stars to rising voices, venues across the city – including the Punchline, Helium comedy Club, Atlanta Comedy Theater, City Winery, Dad’s garage, and even Atlanta Symphony Hall – are hosting performances sure to entertain.
ArtsATL highlights a critic’s selection of must-see shows, exhibitions, concerts, and events, and this winter’s comedy offerings are particularly robust. Many venues boast a full roster of comedic performances,providing ample opportunities for a night of laughter.
December’s Comedy Highlights
The month of December kicks off with Melissa Villasenor, known for her work on Saturday Night Live and a 2011 run on America’s Got Talent, performing at Helium Comedy Club in Alpharetta from December 11-13.Villasenor, who also released her first book, Whoops I’m Awesome! in 2022, will have multiple showtimes throughout the weekend.
Emmy-winning comedian John Mulaney brings his Mister Whatever tour to the Tabernacle on December 14. Southern storyteller Landon Bryant, performing as “Landon Talks,” will be at the Atlanta Punchline on December 15, sharing stories about everything from rural life to quirky phrases. Cult filmmaker John Waters offers a unique holiday experience with A John Waters Christmas at Variety Playhouse on December 17.
January Brings a Stellar Lineup
January continues the comedic momentum. Guy Torry, a familiar face from BET’s Comic View and Def Comedy Jam, will be at Helium Comedy Club from January 2-4.
On January 9, Fortune Feimster is set to bring her Takin’ Care of Biscuits Tour to Atlanta Symphony Hall at 8 p.m. The North Carolina native,who began her television career on Last Comic Standing in 2010,has as appeared in numerous sitcoms and movies,establishing herself as an “affable and charismatic” performer.
Later in the month, Drew Lynch, a america’s Got Talent finalist, will perform at Helium Comedy Club in Alpharetta from January 22-24. George Lopez, best known for his eponymous sitcom, will take the stage at City Winery on January 23 and 24.
January 24 also features British comedian Paul Chowdhry at Buckhead Theatre with his Artificial Indian tour, having previously sold out Wembley Arena in 2017.
February Rounds Out a Hilarious Season
February keeps the laughs coming with Ron Funches at Helium Comedy Club from January 30-February 1. Funches,known for roles in The goldbergs and Bob’s Burgers,currently appears on LOOT on Apple TV+.
Arnez J, a veteran host of BET’s Comic View, will perform at city Winery from February 5-7. Leslie jones, a three-time Emmy nominee and Saturday Night Live alum, will close out the featured lineup at City Winery on February 20 and 21.
