NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a case filed by businessman Sehgar Reddy alleging money laundering by the Enforcement Department.

Businessman Sehgar Reddy has been doing various businesses in Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, including real estate. . A further 178 kg of gold was seized.
Within days of the federal government announcing the currency devaluation, Sehgar Reddy had new 2,000 rupee notes worth Rs 34 crore, sparking controversy. In this connection, the Enforcement Department registered a case against Shekhar Reddy. The case was heard in the High Court.

Under the circumstances, a petition was filed on behalf of Shekhar Reddy seeking an injunction against the Enforcement Department inquiry. But, the High Court refused. Subsequently, Shekhar Reddy appealed to the Supreme Court. The apex court, hearing the petition, dismissed the case registered by the Enforcement Department, saying ‘Shekhar Reddy is innocent in this case’.
