Afghanistan has been experiencing a severe drought for the past few days due to the severe effects of climate change. This was followed by a sharp decline in crop production. The rains have intensified amid threats that it could lead to a serious food crisis and poverty. About 3,000 acres of farmland were destroyed in the floods alone.
Decades of war between the Taliban and former government forces have severely weakened the country’s economic structure. With the onset of natural disasters, the Afghan people are heading for a major crisis.
