LOTTE BIOLOGICS Advances Next-Generation Cancer Therapies with Innovative ADC Technology Forum
Table of Contents
LOTTE BIOLOGICS is solidifying its position as a leading contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) in the rapidly evolving field of antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs), highlighted by its recent “Future Innovation Technology Development Forum” and advancements in its SoluFlex Link technology. The company is actively fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing to accelerate the development of more effective and targeted cancer treatments.
Strengthening Global Collaboration in Biopharmaceutical Innovation
LOTTE BIOLOGICS has been regularly hosting the “Future Innovation Technology Development Forum” since last year, designed to bolster technological differentiation and collaboration within the global biopharmaceutical market. The forums serve as a crucial platform for knowledge exchange between employees at the company’s facilities in Korea and New York’s Syracuse Bio Campus. The fifth installment, recently held at the IBS Tower in Songdo, featured a keynote address from Jae-Wook Jung, Head of R&D at GC Biopharma, and was attended by Byung-Chul Lee, CEO of Kanaph Therapeutics.
ADCs: A Paradigm Shift in Cancer Treatment
Jung’s presentation focused on the current landscape of the biopharmaceutical industry, with a specific emphasis on the latest trends in antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). He framed the discussion around the theme “Evolving from traditional approaches to innovative breakthroughs,” outlining the limitations of conventional cytotoxic chemotherapy – namely, its indiscriminate attack on both cancerous and healthy cells, leading to debilitating side effects.
“ADCs minimize damage to normal cells by combining an antibody with an anticancer agent to deliver the drug selectively to cancer cells,” Jung explained, highlighting the core advantage of this targeted approach. He also detailed GC Biopharma’s expanding pipeline of ADC development efforts.
Strategic Partnerships Drive Innovation
LOTTE BIOLOGICS is actively pursuing strategic partnerships to enhance its ADC capabilities. According to a company release, a key collaboration with Kanaph Therapeutics, a company specializing in ADC linker technologies, is central to securing valuable assets in the field. “We are conducting various research initiatives with highly capable partners,” a senior official stated, “and through our collaboration with Kanaph Therapeutics, we are working to secure assets with greater value.”
The company’s New York Syracuse Bio Campus facility offers a comprehensive, one-stop CDMO service, supporting clients from early clinical development through full-scale commercial production.
SoluFlex Link Technology: Precision Drug Delivery
A cornerstone of LOTTE BIOLOGICS’ ADC strategy is its proprietary SoluFlex Link technology. This innovative conjugation platform enables precise drug delivery and accurate target engagement, ultimately enhancing both the efficacy and safety of ADC therapeutics. The technology utilizes a specially designed, hydrophilicity-enhanced linker that demonstrates superior performance compared to existing ADC treatments in key areas such as in-vivo efficacy, pharmacokinetics, stability, and manufacturability. .
Expanding Expertise Through Global Networks
Since April of last year, LOTTE BIOLOGICS has been actively inviting leading experts in the field to share insights and foster innovation. These experts include Professor Nathan Tumey, Ph.D., of SUNY; Dr. Oren Beske of ATUM; Dr. Mark Chiu of Tavotek Biotherapeutics; and Dr. Jonny Finlay of Ottimo Pharma. These sessions are designed to strengthen the company’s global network and ensure its employees remain at the forefront of technological advancements.
Kern Chang, Head of Technology Development at LOTTE BIOLOGICS, emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation. “LOTTE BIOLOGICS is commercializing innovative technologies based on its geopolitical strengths and quality competitiveness,” Chang stated. “As a global ADC CDMO, we will continue to advance and hope to contribute new therapeutic options to patients and the medical field.”
