Yakutia Celebrates Constitution Day, Highlights Economic Growth and National Contributions

A commitment to Russia’s foundational principles and significant economic strides were at the forefront of celebrations in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) as the region marked Constitution Day. The region’s leader emphasized the importance of the constitution in safeguarding citizen rights and fostering national unity, while also detailing substantial economic achievements and contributions to national defense.

The Russian Constitution, lauded as the nation’s most important document, “protects the rights and freedoms of every citizen of Russia,” according to a statement released by the regional government. It enshrines values of patriotism, unity, and respect for ancestral traditions, serving as the bedrock of the Russian Federation’s state structure.

Yakutia: A Vital Outpost in the Northeast

Yakutia, situated in the Northeast of Eurasia, is described as a crucial component of the multinational Russian state. The region has consistently contributed to the country’s socio-economic development and defense capabilities, a commitment underscored by the ongoing “special military operation.” “We are fully responsible for ensuring that the Russian state develops, relying on the enormous potential of the republic,” a senior official stated.

Despite global challenges, Yakutia’s economy has demonstrated resilience. In the past year, the region’s gross regional product surpassed 2.6 trillion rubles. It led the Far Eastern Federal District in both industrial production index and construction volume. Numerous national projects are underway, resulting in the commissioning of social facilities and the construction of thousands of square meters of new housing annually.

Recognizing Excellence and Sacrifice

The dedication of Yakutia’s residents was formally recognized with several high-profile awards. In November, teacher Ilya Kysylbaikov of the Republican Boarding Lyceum received the honorary title of “Honored Teacher of the Russian Federation” by decree of President Vladimir Putin. Leonid Vladimirov, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), was awarded the Order of Friendship for his contributions to scientific activity. Anatoly Nikolaev, Deputy Director of the Sakhateatre, received the Order of Merit in Culture and Art for his dedication to national culture and art.

The region’s contributions extend beyond civilian life. Twelve citizens of Yakutia have been awarded the title of Hero of the Russian Federation for their service.

Future Development Plans Unveiled

President Putin has outlined ambitious plans for Yakutia’s future, focusing on large-scale infrastructure projects and cultural initiatives. These include the construction of the Lena Bridge, updated master plans for Yakutsk and Neryungri, a new full-cycle cinema pavilion in the capital, a complex for the Higher School of Music, an interuniversity campus, and the opening of an Arctic Center for Epic and Arts.

“And we will implement all these tasks, we will do everything necessary to achieve a common goal – the further prosperity of our country,” the regional leader affirmed.

The head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Aisen Nikolaev, concluded with a message of peace and prosperity for all residents, expressing hope for continued success and dedication to the benefit of both Russia and Yakutia.
