Lucie Borhyová: Could a Young Lawyer Finally Lead the Veteran News Anchor Down the Aisle?
Lucie Borhyová, a mainstay of Czech television for over two decades, may have finally found lasting love with attorney Michal Smečka, sparking speculation about a potential first marriage.
For more than 20 years, Lucie Borhyová has been a familiar face delivering the news to Czech audiences. Beginning at Nova TV in 1997 as an assistant news editor, she quickly rose to prominence, forming a popular presenting duo with Rey Koranteng and earning multiple awards as the network’s most popular female personality. Despite her professional success, Borhyová’s personal life has been marked by a series of relationships that didn’t culminate in marriage. She has been engaged three times, but has yet to walk down the aisle.
Borhyová’s romantic history includes a nine-year engagement to golfer Alan Babický, followed by a brief relationship with hockey legend Jaromír Jágr. While both relationships ultimately ended, she maintains a friendly rapport with Jágr. “We broke up on good terms,” she has stated, reflecting on their past connection.
Her journey to motherhood also unfolded outside of marriage. In 2008, she gave birth to her son, Lucas, with Greek businessman Nik Papadakis, though the couple had already separated during her pregnancy. A subsequent relationship with Michal Hrdlička resulted in her daughter, Linda, but also ended in divorce. Borhyová has openly acknowledged the challenges of finding a lasting partnership, but remains optimistic. “I don’t think so, I’m happy for all the things that have happened in my life. I have two beautiful healthy children from these two relationships and I’m happy for that. So I certainly can’t talk about bad luck in love. They were great loves that gave birth to children, and the fact that after a while we couldn’t work together anymore, that’s what happens,” she explained when questioned about her romantic life.
Now, after nine years together, Borhyová appears to have found a potentially enduring connection with Michal Smečka, a lawyer ten years her junior. Smečka is also a father, raising two children from previous relationships. According to reports from Extra, Borhyová is open to the possibility of another engagement, fueling speculation that this relationship could finally lead to marriage.
However, Borhyová is now fiercely protective of her privacy, choosing to keep details about her current relationship and future plans closely guarded. This shift in approach suggests a desire to shield her newfound happiness from the intense scrutiny of the public eye, and to allow the relationship to develop organically.
