A Kane County physician has been formally charged with multiple felonies, including sexual assault and exploitation, following an alleged incident involving a 16-year-old. The charges, announced Tuesday by Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser, detail a disturbing case that has led to the immediate termination of the doctor’s employment.
Allegations Detail Hotel Assault
Trevor J. Roston, 33, of Chicago, is accused of unlawfully restraining and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old with an intellectual disability on November 29th. According to allegations, Roston followed the teenager into a single-use bathroom at an Elgin hotel where both were staying. Authorities claim Roston then locked the door and committed the assault.
A senior official stated that investigators believe the assault occurred while Roston was on personal time, and that the victim was not a previous patient. Detectives have also indicated there is no evidence suggesting Roston knew the victim prior to the incident.
Advocate Sherman Hospital Responds
At the time of the alleged assault, Roston was employed as a hospitalist at Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. The hospital confirmed Roston held a certification in pediatrics, though he did not actively practice pediatric medicine during his tenure.
Following the allegations, Advocate Health terminated Roston’s employment. The organization did not immediately respond to requests for further comment.
Multiple Charges Filed
Roston faces a series of serious charges, including aggravated criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault, unlawful restraint, aggravated criminal abuse, and sexual exploitation of a child. He appeared in court Monday and was ordered to be detained pending further proceedings.
His next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. on December 29th at the Kane County Judicial Center.
