Stokes scored 161 off 88 balls, including 17 sixes and eight fours, before Durham’s declared 580 for 6 in the first innings. That means Ben Stokes has amassed 134 off 25 balls with six fours.
Stokes became the highest-scoring player in an innings in the county championship with 17 sixes in the tournament.
Symonds, who previously played for Gloucestershire, and Graham Napier, who played for Essex, each hit 16 sixes.
Durham’s David Beddingham also scored 135. Worcestershire stumbled to 169/6 in their first innings when Ben Stokes, who bowled 9 overs, gave up 13 not out.
