Former Chennai skipper Shane Watson has commented that Jadeja has relinquished his captaincy to Dhoni.
In the current IPL series, the Chennai Super Kings team led by Jadeja has suffered a series of defeats. And Jadeja’s game did not go well. He thus resigned his captaincy.
As well as asked Dhoni to take charge again. Following that, Dhoni is currently the captain of the Chennai team.
In this context, Shane Watson, a former Chennai Super Kings player, said of Jadeja’s resignation as captain, ‘I was very surprised when Jadeja first took over as captain of the Chennai team. Because everyone knows about Dhoni. His control over the field, his respect and the inspiration he gives to other players as a leader is immense. It’s hard for Jadeja to make up for that space. He knows that too.
At first I thought Dhoni was stepping down as captain due to injury or retirement. Then it seemed like the biggest opportunity given to Jadeja. But it was sad that he resigned after the defeat. Because he is the best player, the cricketer who exhibits the most sophisticated game. But in general it is worrying to see Jadeja in a position like this.
He should not have said he was relinquishing the captaincy. But it seems right that he gave the lead to Dhoni again. Because if one of the captains gives his responsibility to another it will put more pressure on you.
