The city is designed to house 9 million residents within a wholly carbon-emission-free surroundings. Experts predict that NEOM will become “the largest urban experience in modern history,” echoing the transformative growth seen in cities like Dubai and Singapore.

Abdullah Al-Maliki, a construction worker dedicating 12 hours a day to the project, shared, “Every day I feel like I am building the future with my own hands, but the enormity is sometimes terrifying.”
Conversely, Ahmed Al-Balawi, a camel breeder from the Al-Huwaitat tribe, expressed conflicted emotions after being displaced from ancestral lands. “I understand the importance of the project, but my heart is still with the desert in which I grew up,” he recounted. While The Line promises thousands of job opportunities and the development of advanced technical skills, it also presents meaningful environmental and societal hurdles.
