According to data released by the Northern Statistics Office,the total number of guests visiting Hamburg rose by 10.6 percent to 730,623 in October 2025.This influx of visitors translated to a 4.3 percent increase in overnight stays, reaching a total of 1,516,210.
Strong Domestic and International Demand
The growth in tourism was fueled by both domestic and international travelers. German visitors accounted for the majority of overnight stays, totaling 1,177,096 nights – a 4.1 percent increase year-over-year. Though, the most significant gains came from visitors with permanent residence abroad, who booked 339,114 nights, representing a 4.9 percent increase.
Notably, international visitors comprised 22.5 percent of all guests in Hamburg during october 2025. The primary source markets for these international tourists were Denmark, Austria, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the Netherlands.
Accommodation Landscape and Visitor Behavior
The survey encompassed 417 open accommodation facilities, offering a combined total of 81,891 sleeping accommodations. The average occupancy rate across these facilities stood at 59.8 percent. Visitors demonstrated a preference for longer stays, with the average length of stay recorded at 2.1 days.
“These figures demonstrate Hamburg’s increasing attractiveness as a destination for both leisure and business travelers,” a senior official stated.
