On Monday (Dec. 22), FOX13 Memphis reported that Angela Potts, NLE Choppa’s mother, opened her home and heart to a local family displaced by a recent house fire, providing both shelter and Christmas gifts.

Potts learned about the devastating fire that destroyed Corey Jefferson and his family’s home last Friday (Dec. 19) through a Facebook post. Immediately, she felt compelled to help. “Initially, I was going to get toys together so the kids could have a really good Christmas, based on everything that happened with them losing everything inside the fire,” she said. After speaking with Jefferson, she discovered his urgent need for housing.

Jefferson explained to Potts that securing a new home for his family before Christmas seemed impossible. “So, it dawned on me that I still had a home available,” Potts said. She then offered Jefferson’s family a temporary, rent-free stay at one of her rental properties through the NLE Choppa Foundation, established by her son, the artist known for “Walk Em Down.”

The NLE choppa foundation has consistently focused on supporting families in Memphis. In 2023, the Cottonwood rapper personally visited Neeno, a fan battling leukemia and given a limited time to live. More recently, he released his children’s book, “Cricket Stop Cricking.”
