Paramount+ is set to become the definitive home for all things Avatar, as the streaming service secures exclusive rights to new animated content from Avatar Studios, bypassing a customary theatrical release for The Legend of Aang film. A New Era for the Avatar Universe
Alongside the highly anticipated The Legend of Aang film, a new series, Avatar: Seven Havens, is also in advancement. Both projects are being spearheaded by Avatar Studios, established in 2021 as a dedicated division within Nickelodeon focused on expanding the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra. This expansion aims to deliver “the next evolution of storytelling,” bringing together a wealth of talent both in front of and behind the camera.
Star-Studded Casts Assemble
The cast for The Legend of Aang is rapidly taking shape,with recent additions including Taika Waititi,Geraldine Viswanathan,Dee Bradley Baker,Peta Sergeant,Freida Pinto,and Ke Huy Quan. They join previously announced cast members Dave Bautista,Eric nam,Jessica Matten,Dionne Quan,Román Zaragoza,and Steven Yeun.
Avatar: seven Havens is also poised to captivate audiences with its compelling narrative. The series, set in a post-cataclysmic world, follows a young earthbender who unexpectedly becomes the new Avatar after Korra, only to discover that in this era, the title signifies destruction rather then salvation. She and her long-lost twin must unravel their origins and protect the last vestiges of civilization.
Creative Team & Production Details
lauren Montgomery will direct The Legend of Aang, with Steve Ahn and William Mata serving as co-directors.The film will be produced by Latifa Ouaou, Maryann Garger, Konietzko, and DiMartino. Award-winning composer Jeremy Zuckerman is returning to score both the film and Seven Havens,ensuring a familiar and evocative soundscape for fans.
Seven Havens will consist of 26 episodes, divided into two “Books” – Book 1 featuring 13 half-hour episodes and Book 2 also with 13 half-hour episodes. DiMartino and Konietzko will serve as co-creators and executive producers, alongside Ethan Spaulding as executive producer and Sehaj Sethi as co-executive producer.

Prior to that, the series achieved record-breaking viewership on Netflix in 2020, topping the streamer’s daily chart for over 60 consecutive days – a feat unmatched by any non-Netflix original at the time.
The original Avatar: The last Airbender, which aired on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008, captivated audiences with its unique world of “benders” capable of manipulating earth, fire, wind, and water. The series garnered critical acclaim, earning a Peabody Award, a Primetime Emmy, Annie Awards, and Genesis Awards.
