France’s L’Équipe has secured broadcasting rights for top-level table tennis competitions for the next three years, a deal announced today with the World Table Tennis (WTT) organization.
Expanding Reach for Premier Table Tennis
The agreement grants L’Équipe the rights to broadcast events across France, Andorra, Monaco, Mauritius, and the French Overseas Territories. The WTT, which manages the commercial rights for the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), is rapidly expanding its global footprint through strategic media partnerships.
Did you know? IMG, a heavyweight sports agency, has been a long-term strategic partner of WTT since 2020, handling broadcast rights sales and exploitation.
Coverage will extend across L’Équipe’s television channels and its streaming platform, L’Equipe Live, as well as its mobile and smart TV applications. Fans will be able to follow their favorite players with live or delayed broadcasts, all featuring French-language commentary.
Comprehensive Tournament Coverage
The partnership encompasses the full spectrum of WTT’s premier series, including the prestigious Grand Smashes, WTT Champions, WTT Star Contenders, WTT Contenders, and the season-ending WTT Finals. Additionally, the agreement includes broadcasting rights for the ITTF World Table Tennis Championship Finals.
This deal for WTT follows similar announcements earlier this week, with broadcast agreements reached in Germany (with Dyn) and the United States (with FanDuel TV), signaling a concerted effort to broaden the sport’s international audience.
In September, WTT unveiled a separate four-year broadcasting agreement with CazeTV, a Brazilian sports streaming channel operated by streamer Casemiro Miguel and the LiveMode agency, further demonstrating its commitment to reaching new markets.
