Samsung Updates QuickStar App for One UI 8.5, But Key Feature Remains Unavailable

Samsung is rolling out an update to its QuickStar application, bringing compatibility with the latest One UI 8.5 software currently available in beta for the Galaxy S25 series, running Android 16 QPR2. This move is part of a broader effort by the South Korean tech giant to ensure its suite of apps, including popular Good Lock plugins, function seamlessly with the new operating system.

The update addresses a previous gap in support, as QuickStar was initially left out of the first wave of updates for One UI 8.5. According to a company release, Samsung has been diligently updating its applications to align with the new software features and functionalities. Modules like Display Assistant, NavStar, One Hand Operation+, and Theme Park received updates earlier, but QuickStar users were left waiting.

Did you know? – QuickStar is a Good Lock module allowing users to customize the Quick Settings panel on Samsung Galaxy devices. Good Lock itself is a suite of customization tools.

However, the update isn’t a complete restoration of functionality. While the app now operates on one UI 8.5,Samsung acknowledges that the ability to “Change the arrangement of the Quick Settings window buttons” is currently non-operational. This limitation suggests ongoing growth and refinement of the QuickStar app to fully leverage the capabilities of the new software.

Beyond QuickStar, Samsung has announced plans to release updates for additional Good Lock modules, including HomeUp, LockStar, and NotiStar, to achieve compatibility with One UI 8.5. Users seeking the latest QuickStar update can find it within the Galaxy Store by navigating to the menu icon and selecting “Updates.”

Pro tip – To check for updates in the Galaxy Store, tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines) and select “Updates.” This ensures you have the latest versions of your Good Lock modules.

This phased rollout of updates underscores Samsung’s commitment to providing a consistent and optimized user experience across its ecosystem. the company’s proactive approach to software compatibility ensures that Galaxy smartphone users can fully enjoy the benefits of the latest Android features and customizations.
