COOS COUNTY, Ore — A 29-year-old woman died Monday evening after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 42, according to the Oregon State Police. The tragic incident underscores the vulnerability of pedestrians, even on major roadways.

A driver and investigators worked at the scene of a fatal pedestrian accident on Highway 42 Monday evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:19 p.m. near milepost 20. Troopers determined that a white Ford Ranger, operated by 45-year-old Crystal Leann Joffroy of Coos Bay, struck the pedestrian. Investigators reported the pedestrian was standing in the travel lane for reasons currently unknown.
Victim Identified
The pedestrian was identified as Faith Scarlet Rose Andersen, 29, of Myrtle Point. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Investigation and Road Impact
Joffroy, the driver of the Ford Ranger, did not sustain any injuries. Authorities confirmed that the highway remained open and was not impacted during the on-scene investigation.
Oregon State Police were assisted by the Myrtle Point Police Department, Myrtle Point Fire Department, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
