South Australian police arrested a 56-year-old man from Robe and charged him with aggravated assault, according too a police spokesperson.The arrest followed a response to reports of a domestic assault at a home in Conmurra, in the state’s south-east, around 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. McBride was identified as the arrested individual.

The 56-year-old man, identified as Nick McBride, was refused police bail and will appear in court on Monday, police said. Authorities also reported that an 82-year-old man from Kingston South-East was interviewed regarding the incident and will be reported for aggravated assault. “He will be summonsed to court at a later date,” a police spokesperson stated.

McBride was initially elected to the Liberal seat of MacKillop in 2018 before leaving the party in 2023 to become an independent.
