The Lions Frankfurt have acquired striker Eric Uba from the Adler Mannheim, while Kevin Bicker is moving in the opposite direction, the two clubs from the German Ice Hockey League (DEL) announced.

Uba has signed a contract with the Lions that runs until the summer of 2027. The Canadian, who also holds German citizenship, joined Mannheim from his native country a year and a half ago.

Uba Joins Frankfurt Earlier Than Anticipated

The 25-year-old was already slated to move to Frankfurt next summer, and is expected to bolster the Lions with his imposing physical presence, aggressive playing style, and powerful shot.

“With Eric, we are getting a player who has exactly the elements we need right now, and we look forward to integrating him into our team as soon as possible,” said Frankfurt’s sports director, Jan Barta.

Bicker Returns to Mannheim

However, 20-year-old Bicker will depart the Lions immediately. The team announced that, due to the current roster situation and a “very strong line-up in the U23 area,” the German forward’s playing time would be limited.

Bicker transferred from Mannheim to Frankfurt in 2023. Now, he’s heading back. «Kevin brings speed and tenacity. He also fills a U23 spot and gives us more depth in attack,” explained Mannheim head coach and manager Dallas Eakins.

Additionally, Sebastian Cimmerman is also leaving the Löwen Frankfurt. The 22-year-old will continue his career with second-division club EC Bad Nauheim.
