Dust storms in the Gulf region are increasing day by day. According to the Met Office, the Gulf region is experiencing frequent climate change.

Currently The Met Office has warned of possible dust storms in Oman and parts of the country. Authorities said dust was likely to rise in the open and caution should be exercised.

Meanwhile, Friday was clear in most governorates. The epicenter was reported below the Pacific Ocean floor, however; no tsunami alert was issued. Dust is more likely to rise in open areas. This will reduce visibility, the Meteorological Department said.

In the last few days, various parts of the UAE have experienced some dust storms in the distance. In some places the visibility was as low as 2,000 meters. Dust storms were reported in Abu Dhabi, Al Dafra, Madinat Zayed, Al Ain, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and Umm al-Quwain.

This made it very difficult for pedestrians. Health experts warn that people with asthma and allergies should be careful as dust storms can also cause health problems. When sand particles reach the airways, the risk of asthma increases.

Dust mites can also cause severe damage to the eyes. In such cases, seek medical attention without self-medication. Lightweight cotton clothes that cover the body when going out are best. Avoid giving children toys that may contain dust, as dust can get inside the house no matter how closed it is.
