The Football Association today (Sunday) unanimously approved the appointment of Alon Hazan as the coach of the senior team, at the end of a meeting of the organization’s members. The 54-year-old former defender will jump a class after coaching the young team for a little over a year, and will participate in a press conference at 14:30 where he will be introduced alongside the team’s professional manager Yossi Benyon and the association’s chairman Oren Hasson.
As an active footballer, Hazan has had a great career, with titles at Hapoel Petah Tikva and Maccabi Haifa, 72 appearances for the Israeli national team and a season at Watford English. He began his coaching career at MS. Ashdod and stood on its lines for about two years (2006-2008). He then started working for the Football Association as a coach on the boys’ teams, an assistant on the senior team and a temporary coach in several of its games. In March 2021 he was appointed coach of the young team and has now risen a grade.
