Twelve Injured in Public Transport Overturn Near Mexico City
A bus accident on the Mexican Exterior Circuit left at least 12 passengers injured on Thursday, authorities reported.
At least a dozen individuals sustained injuries when a public transport vehicle overturned near Jaltenco, State of Mexico, authorities confirmed. The incident occurred at approximately kilometer 28 of the Mexican Exterior Circuit, a major thoroughfare leading toward Mexico City (CDMX).
The vehicle, identified as belonging to the “Las Brujas” transport service operating out of the municipality of Zumpango, veered off the roadway and came to rest in the median. Civil Protection personnel and the Mexican Red Cross swiftly responded to the scene, providing on-site medical attention and transporting the injured to local hospitals.
“Elements of Civil Protection and Red Cross Mexicans went to the site and treated the injured, transferring them to nearby hospitals,” a local emergency responder stated.
Law enforcement officials have taken the driver into custody and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. The driver has been handed over to the Public Ministry to determine legal responsibility.
Preliminary reports suggest that a combination of fog and excessive speed may have contributed to the rollover. Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and analyze the scene to determine the definitive cause.
The transport service, “Las Brujas,” has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
