Spotify Stations

Spotify’s experimental Stations app will be shutting down on May 16. This app basically separates the main app’s “radio”-style playlist into an app, allowing listeners to listen to various “radio stations” more easily. It originally debuted in Australia in 2018 and came to the US in 2019, and now ends almost four years later. The app has been removed from the App Store and Play Store and cannot be downloaded.

Spotify says they often experiment with ways to provide listeners with a “better listening experience,” and Stations is one way. While the Stations app is coming to an end, its basic functionality still exists in the main Spotify app, and users can simply switch their favorite stations from the Stations app to the Spotify app.

For those who love the Stations app, Spotify’s decision will inevitably be a shame, but the closure of experimental features that don’t meet user interest is nothing new. You can only go to Spotify’s search interface and search for the content you want to listen to through the “stations” category.
