The allegations, which surfaced last spring, centered on claims that Bressington had a sexual relationship with a minor who was also his music student. Other posts alleged he had been charged by authorities and dropped by a record label. Lawyers for Bressington and representatives for Royel Otis did not respond to requests for comment.
Ambiguous Intentions Raise Doubts
Judge William Alsup’s decision hinged on the perceived ambiguity of Bressington’s intentions. The musician’s legal team stated they were “prepared to initiate” a defamation suit in Australia, but stopped short of committing to actually filing one. Alsup wrote that requesting extensive user data was premature without a clear indication that legal action would follow.
