Meta Description: New toll rates are set to take effect on January 1, 2026, in Chile’s Coquimbo Region, reflecting a modest 3.4% increase due to stabilized inflation.
As of January 1, 2026, drivers traveling on highways in chile’s Coquimbo Region will face increased toll rates. The adjustments, mandated by concession contracts, reflect accumulated inflation over the past year, but represent the smallest increase in half a decade. The moderate rise offers a degree of relief to commuters and transportation businesses bracing for potential cost hikes.
Inflation Stabilization Drives Lower Adjustment
According to a statement from the Minister of Public Works, Javier Sandoval, the toll increases are in line wiht the terms of the concession agreements. “As of January 1, 2026, the concessioned highways in the Coquimbo Region, specifically the route connecting Los Vilos with La Serena, will update their rates in accordance with their contracts,” Sandoval explained. He further noted that the 3.4% adjustment is the lowest recorded in the last five years, attributing it to the stabilization of inflation, with a projected Consumer Price Index (CPI) of around 3.4%.
This comparatively small increase is welcome news for families, transporters, and regular highway users, who have experienced more significant toll hikes in previous years.
sacyr Group Implements Rate Changes
The Sacyr group, the concessionaire responsible for several routes in the region, confirmed that the new rates went into effect at midnight on January 1st. A company release stated that the rate increases are being implemented “as established in the contractual relationship defined in the Tender Terms.”
Sacyr manages the following concessions:
- Elqui Route Concessionaire Company (Los Vilos-La Serena)
- Algarrobo Route Concessionaire Company (La Serena-Vallenar)
- Ruta del Limarà Concessionaire Company (improvement and conservation of Route 43)
