HOPKINSVILLE, KY – January 9, 2026 – Despite the chill in the air, Hopkinsville and Christian County are brimming with events this winter, offering something for everyone through the end of March.

Looking for ways to engage with the local workforce? A panel discussion highlighting the impact of work-based learning in Christian County will be held January 13th from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Pennyrile Electric. The event, costing between $25 and $30, will feature local employers and students sharing their experiences with the Co-Op program. Kelly Gates, workforce program specialist for Christian County Public Schools, will moderate the discussion, focusing on how businesses can shape the future local workforce.
January Events: A Diverse Lineup
For those observing Dry January, a curated pairing of alcohol-free wines and classic cheeses will be offered January 16th from 5 to 7 p.m. The event costs $20 with pre-purchase and $25 on the day of, and encourages adventurous tasting of six specially selected combinations.
The Corner Coffeehouse will host a Reading Group discussion of Bernard Lafayette Jr.’s memoir, *In Peace and Freedom: My Journey in Selma*, January 17th from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event is free and takes place during MLK weekend.
The annual MLK Day March and Program, hosted by the Hopkinsville-Christian County Human Rights Commission and community partners, will be held January 19th at 9 a.m. The march begins at Freedom Elementary School and concludes with a program at Hopkinsville Community College.
Movie buffs can enjoy a free screening of *The Outsiders* at the Alhambra Theatre on January 20th at 6:30 p.m. Concessions will be available for purchase.
Test your knowledge with Stranger Things Trivia Night at Davo’s Burgers and Fries on January 20th at 7 p.m. The event is free, and the top three teams will win gift cards.
Support the Hopkinsville High School Jazz Ensemble with a fundraiser concert on January 21st at 6 p.m. at the Alhambra Theatre. Tickets are $25, and proceeds will help fund the ensemble’s first-ever KMEA Conference appearance. Guest musicians from NKU and Murray State will also perform.
The Sofia Goodman Group will headline “Jazz on Stage: A Tribute to the Women Composers in Jazz” on January 22nd at 6 p.m. at the Alhambra Theatre. Tickets range from $35 to $50, and the performance will feature music by Melba Liston, Carla Bley, Alice Coltrane, and Esperanza Spalding.
Bookworms can stock up on reading material at the Winter Book Sale, January 21st-24th, at the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library. Books, DVDs, and audiobooks will be available for just $1 each, with cash and card accepted.
Share your poetry at Open Mic Poetry Night on January 24th at 6:00 p.m. at The Book & Bottle Shop. The theme is “New Beginnings” (optional), and performances are limited to five minutes or three poems/pages of prose.
The Alhambra Theater will host the Hopkinsville Lip Sync Battle on January 25th at 9 p.m., raising money for Joy Closet.
Animal lovers can create a painting of their pet at the Paint Your Pet Fundraiser for the Christian County Animal Shelter on January 25th from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at Hopkinsville Brewing Company. The event costs $45 and includes supplies and one drink.
Enjoy an evening of history, ghost hunting, and BBQ at Boos and BBQ at The Knight House on January 31st from 6:00–11:00 p.m. Tickets are $50 and include dinner catered by G’s BBQ and a guided exploration with NightSong Paranormal.
February: Galentine’s Day and Tributes
Celebrate friendship at the Galentine’s Day Party on February 13th at 5:00 p.m. at Hopkinsville Brewing Company, featuring charm bracelets, permanent jewelry, and gourmet treats.
Alfreda Gerald will pay tribute to Tina Turner in “Alfreda Sings Tina” on February 14th at 7:00 p.m. at the Alhambra Theatre. Tickets range from $35 to $50.
Another free movie night is scheduled for February 24th at 6:30 p.m. at the Alhambra Theatre, featuring *The Color Purple* in partnership with the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library.
The Inaugural Hoptown Hoppers Blitzball Tournament will be held February 28th at 9 a.m. at Planters Bank-Jennie Stuart Health Sportsplex. Team entry is $250, and spectator entry is free.
