Gujarat innings:
The Gujarat team was expected to suffocate as the Mumbai Wankhede ground was predicted to be favorable for bowling. In the end the same thing happened.
Schubman Gill 1 (4) and Matthew Wade 16 (13) were outscored. Viruthiman Saha, who was playing better next, was also run out for 31 (23). Following this, Hardik Pandya and David Miller started playing brilliantly and adding runs.
In the end, Miller was dismissed for 34 (25). Hardik Pandya 62 (47) and Rashid Khan 19 (6) continued to score in the final over. Thus, Gujarat team added 168/5 runs in 20 overs.
RCB Innings:
Openers Virat Kohli and Du Plessis gave the RCB a good start as they chased down the target. The goalie returned to form after a long day and continued to play better. Each shot seemed to indicate, ‘I’m back in form.’
While both were playing well, Du Plessis was bowled out for 44 (38). Virat Kohli, who was playing better next, came down from Rashid Khan’s ball and tried to hit it, but was dismissed for 73 (54). With Maxwell 40 (18) and Dinesh Karthik 2 (2) finally on the field, the RCB team added 170/2 in 18.4 overs to win by 8 wickets.
RBC Playoff Opportunity:
With the RCB victory, the play-off chances for Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad have come to an end. The RCB team is currently in 4th place with 16 points from 14 matches and -0.253 net run rate. If Delhi beat Mumbai in the next match, RCB’s play-off chances will come to an end.
