Thailand and China to Deepen Cultural Ties with Landmark Youth Exchange Project

A collaborative initiative between Thailand and China aims to foster stronger people-to-people connections through a comprehensive youth cultural exchange program, marking a critically important milestone in the “50 golden years of Thai-China friendship” and the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations. The project, spearheaded by the China Intercontinental Dialog Center (CICC) – under the supervision of the Cabinet Facts Bureau of the People’s Republic of China – and Chulalongkorn University, will take place January 14-16, 2026, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok.
A New generation, Without Borders
The Thai-Chinese Youth Cultural exchange Project, titled “The power of the new generation creativity without borders,” is designed to cultivate a deeper understanding and appreciation of each nation’s artistic and cultural heritage. The initiative will serve as an international platform for young people to connect, share ideas, and collaborate on innovative projects. A senior official stated the project aims to “drive sustainable cultural cooperation” and promote “cultural innovation” between the two countries.
High-Level Opening Ceremony to Kick Off the Exchange
The official opening ceremony, scheduled for January 14, 2026, in Rooms 210-211 of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, will feature a distinguished lineup of dignitaries. Attendees will include Prof. Dr. Wilert Phuriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University; Mr. Li Mian, Director of the International Communication Center, China Intercontinental Communications Office, Information Bureau, Cabinet of the People’s Republic of China; Mr. Yang Xiaolong, Minister Counselor at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand; Mr. Sermkit Chaimongkol, Inspector General of the Ministry of Culture; and Assoc. Prof.Dr. Chatchart Sitthiphan, Governor of Bangkok.
Assoc. Prof. rittirong Jiwakanon, Director of the Institute of Thai Studies at Chulalongkorn University, will deliver an opening speech, and the ceremony will also include the launch of the exhibition, “the Power of New Generations, Creativity Without Borders,” a central component of the event.
Activities Focused on Arts, Culture, and Innovation
The exchange project will encompass a diverse range of activities designed to stimulate dialogue and collaboration across various creative fields. On January 14, 2026, a round table discussion will bring together experts in arts, culture, film, creativity, and media. Alongside the discussion,a Contemporary sculpture Exhibition will be on display,showcasing the artistic talents of both Thailand and china. The event seeks to highlight the “artistic wisdom of both countries” and foster a spirit of mutual learning.
The initiative is intended to create opportunities for youth to “exchange inspiration and grow together,” ultimately strengthening the bonds between the people of Thailand and China.
