The provider of testing services as well as respirators reports that net revenues in the first quarter decreased by 10% and amounted to NIS 254.3 million, compared with NIS 284.2 million in the corresponding quarter in 2021. In relation to this figure, the company showed increases in profitability indices with operating profit increasing by 27% to NIS 66.6 million, compared with NIS 52.5 million in the corresponding quarter last year.
Even earlier, gross profit for the quarter increased by 23.6% to NIS 102.9 million and its share of sales jumped to 40.5% compared to 29.3% in 2021. EBITDA for the quarter increased by 18% and amounted to NIS 79.5 million, compared with NIS 67.2 million in 2021. Net income attributable to shareholders increased by approximately 13.3% and amounted to approximately NIS 44.7 million, compared with approximately NIS 39.5 million in the corresponding quarter.
Results of the Company’s operating segments
Segmented by operating segments, it was reported that in the diagnostics segment, which also includes corona tests, revenues in the quarter decreased to NIS 176 million, compared with NIS 186 million in the corresponding quarter. Gross profit for the quarter increased by 45.7% and amounted to NIS 84.3 million, compared with NIS 57.9 million in the corresponding quarter last year. Operating profit (excluding other income) increased by 57% in the quarter and amounted to NIS 67.9 million, compared with NIS 43.2 million in the first quarter of 2021.
At Medtechnica, the medical equipment company, revenues in the quarter amounted to NIS 74.4 million, compared with NIS 87.1 million in the corresponding quarter last year. The decrease in revenues is mainly due to delays in deliveries from foreign suppliers, as well as the effect of the corona epidemic in the corresponding period last year. Gross profit in the quarter amounted to NIS 17.4 million, compared with NIS 18.2 million in the corresponding quarter last year. NIS 2.4 million, compared with NIS 3.9 million in the corresponding quarter last year.
Plate, the respirator device company, reduced revenues to NIS 3 million, compared with NIS 9.8 million in the corresponding quarter last year. Gross profit for the quarter amounted to NIS 0.8 million, compared with NIS 7 million in the corresponding quarter last year. The operating loss (excluding other income) amounted to NIS 1.7 million in the quarter, compared with an operating profit of NIS 4.7 million in the corresponding quarter last year.
