Indian TV Series Fuels ₹3.5 Crore Investment in Sustainable Battery Startup Aloe Ecell
A new funding commitment of ₹3.5 crore has been secured by Aloe Ecell, an Indian startup pioneering eco-kind battery technology, facilitated by the founder-first television series Bharat Ke Super Founders. The investment signals a growing trend of venture capital prioritizing both financial returns and environmental impact.
Bharat Ke Super Founders, launched on Amazon MX Player, distinguishes itself by providing real, growth-stage capital to businesses tackling notable real-world problems. Unlike customary pitch shows, the series focuses on structuring funding outcomes — including both equity and debt — that align with the operational needs of each startup.
The funding round for Aloe Ecell is structured with ₹2.5 crore coming from equity investments, securing a 4.16 percent stake in the company,and an additional ₹1 crore in debt financing from Recur Club. This debt component is specifically designed to accelerate scale-up through quick commerce distribution and operational expansion.“The deal reflects the show’s approach of matching capital structures to real business requirements, rather than symbolic investments,†according to a company release.
Several prominent business leaders,referred to as “Tycoons†on the show,participated in the equity portion of the funding. Dr. Velumani invested ₹1.25 crore for a 2.08 percent equity stake, while Nitish M contributed ₹50 lakh for 0.83 percent. Aditya S participated with ₹25 lakh for 0.42 percent equity, and Shanti M committed ₹50 lakh for an additional 0.83 percent. Recur Club’s debt financing will enable faster market access and operational scaling for Aloe Ecell.
Aloe Ecell is developing a sustainable option to conventional dry-cell batteries, having created 100 percent eco-friendly AA and AAA batteries. these batteries utilize an aloe vera extract-based electrolyte, replacing the toxic chemicals typically found in traditional batteries. The company targets low-power household devices like remotes, clocks, toys, and cameras, positioning its product as leak-proof, longer-lasting, and cost-effective, alongside an integrated recycling programme.
The startup addresses a critical, often overlooked environmental issue.In India,it is indeed estimated that the average person discards between 15 and 20 batteries annually,resulting in nearly 230 crore used batteries each year. Studies demonstrate that a single discarded battery can contaminate up to 1.67 lakh litres of water, underscoring the urgent need for scalable and consumer-friendly alternatives.
With this new funding, Bharat Ke Super Founders reinforces its position as a platform that extends beyond entertainment, enabling founders to secure ample capital aligned with sustainability, scalability, and long-term impact.
