Steam Now Lets You Gift ‘Complete the Set’ Bundles,Saving Friends From Duplicate Games

Valve has expanded gifting options on Steam, allowing users to purchase “complete the set” bundles as gifts, with prices dynamically adjusting based on the recipient’s existing game library. this new feature eliminates the risk of inadvertently buying someone a game they already own, a common frustration for PC gamers.

The update, first noticed by the community at SteamDB,addresses a long-standing request from users who enjoy sharing games with friends. previously, gifting bundles meant potentially duplicating titles for the recipient. Now,the system automatically calculates the cost of only the games the recipient doesn’t have.

Did you know? – Steam launched in 2003 as a method for automatic updates for Valve’s games. It has since evolved into a dominant digital distribution platform for PC games.

A recent test of the new system revealed the price adjustments in action. According to one report, a nearly £120 Fallout series bundle cost approximately £87 for one friend, and just £71 for another, depending on their existing collection. While the cost of completing a full series can still be considerable – even for titles like Fallout Tactics and Fallout 76‘s fishing gear – the feature offers a notable improvement over the previous all-or-nothing gifting model.

“Not being able to dump all of the Yakuza/Like A Dragons on your mum at Christmas… ain’t right,” one observer noted, highlighting the previously unmet desire to share entire game series as gifts.

Pro tip – To take advantage of the new gifting feature, simply select a bundle as a gift and Steam will automatically display the adjusted price based on the recipient’s library.

In a separate update, Valve has also revised its community award emojis to combat manipulative behavior. the company is attempting to curb the practice of users deliberately posting inflammatory content to attract “clown” stickers and earn Steam points, which can be redeemed for profile customizations. The hope is that these changes will foster more constructive discussions and reviews within the Steam community.

These updates demonstrate Valve’s continued commitment to refining the Steam experience for both buyers and recipients, addressing pain points and enhancing the platform’s social features.
