Kayode was driving a vehicle carrying Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and strength coach, Sina Ghami, when it collided with a stationary lorry on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on December 29th. Ayodele and Ghami were pronounced dead at the scene, while Joshua was treated for his injuries and released from hospital two days later.

During his appearance at Sagamu Magistrates Court in Ogun state on Tuesday, Kayode, dressed in a black hoodie, black shoes, and black trousers, remained silent. The case was adjourned until February 25th to allow the prosecutor time to seek legal counsel.
Kayode had previously been released on bail for 5 million naira, equivalent to approximately $3,500 or £2,600. Joshua, who was born in Watford, has strong family ties to Sagamu, and was reportedly visiting relatives for New Year’s celebrations when the crash occurred.
Social MediaFollowing the crash, Joshua shared a heartfelt tribute to Ayodele and Ghami on Instagram, expressing his shock and grief. He wrote, “I didn’t even realise how special they are… I’ll just be walking with them and cracking jokes with them, not even knowing God kept me in the presence of great men. 100% it’s tough for me, but I know it’s even tougher for their parents.”
